Submissions are now being sought in both the 2010 Indiegrrl and Philadelphia Songwriters Project Songwriting Contests.

The 2010 Indiegrrl Songwriting Contest is open to songwriters in all genres. Songs will be evaluated based on originality, musical arrangements, and lyrics (for those with lyrics). Prizes – including free passes for the 2010 Indiegrrl International Music & Arts Conference & Festival in Knoxville, TN, Aug. 19-22, and a showcasing slot, as well as song inclusion on the 2011 Indiegrrl Compilation CD – will be awarded to the top five winners. Proceeds from the contest, for which the entry fee is $10, will support the development of an Indiegrrl Music and Art Camp for Children. The entry deadline is March 1. Love Songs is the theme of this year’s Philadelphia Songwriters Project Songwriting Contest, which is open to performing songwriters in all genres. Songs will be judged based on lyrics, music, originality and presentation. Winners will earn performance opportunities at various festivals and venues in Pennsylvania this summer. The entry fee is $12 per song, and the deadline for submission is April 1. Finalists will be notified on May 1, while winners will be announced following a Finals show on May 23, and must be available to play at all performance opportunities to qualify.
