Inside Llewyn Davis, the T-Bone Burnett-produced original soundtrack album for the 2013 Coen brothers’ film of the same name, was the most-played album on folk radio during January 2014 and also sported several of the month’s most-played songs, according to charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. “King of the Folksingers” by Indiana-based Americana-folk singer-songwriter Tim Grimm was reportedly the month’s most-played song. Grimm’s The Turning Point was the month’s #2 album, while Long Island-based folk harmony trio Gathering Time’s When One Door Closes was #3.

The January 2014 FOLKDJ-L charts are based on 13,011 airplays from 135 different DJs. The number of reported spins (airplays) is shown in parentheses, while label and release dates appear in brackets. They are posted with permission on AcousticMusicScene.com.
