FAI Folk Radio Charts – March 2024

Sarah Jarosz had the top album (Polaroid Lovers), two of the top ten songs, and was the most-played artist on folk radio during March 2024. “The Ballad of Sally Anne” by Rhiannon Giddens and “If God is an Apple” by Erik Balkey and Jessica Smucker tied for the month’s top song. So say charts compiled by Folk Alliance International based on radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in folk-based music on the radio. Mike P. Ryan Wins 38th Mid-Atlantic Song Contest

Mike P. Ryan has been named the grand prize winner of the 38th annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest presented by the Songwriters’ Association of Washington. The Clifton, Virginia-based contemporary folk-Americana singer-songwriter was recognized for his song “Between Heaven and the Ground,” which was also the first place (Gold) winner in the contest’s Folk-Acoustic category. 2013 Connecticut Folk Festival & Green Expo Set for Sept. 7

The eighth annual Connecticut Folk Festival and Green Expo, a free, day-long event, is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, in New Haven’s Edgerton Park. Entries Sought for SolarFest Singer-Songwriter Showcase

SolarFest, which bills itself as New England’s renewable energy festival, is seeking songwriters to perform in its 11th annual Singer-Songwriter Showcase this July. Ten singer-songwriters, who write and perform original music and are not currently signed to a major recording label, will be selected to perform two songs each and compete to be among the three winners of cash prizes and studio time.
