Whistle Down the Wind by Joan Baez and Ghost Light by John McCutcheon were the most-played albums on folk radio during March 2018. “The President Sang Amazing Grace,” written by Zoe Mulford and recorded by Joan Baez, was the month’s top song. McCutcheon’s Ghost Light also was the most-played album in February, while “Hole” by Tracy Grammer was that month’s most-played song.

Southern Indiana-based singer-songwriter Tim Grimm had both the most-played album (A Stranger In This Time) and song (“Gonna Be Great”) on folk radio during 2017, according to charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. John McCutcheon, one of America’s most revered folksinger-songwriters, was the year’s most-played artist.

Top Albums and Songs of September 2015 (FOLKDJ-L)
Joy of Living: A Tribute to Ewan MacColl was the most-played album on folk radio during September 2015, closely followed by Songs of Heart and Home by Greg Blake -- who was also the month’s most-played artist. “House Carpenter” by Low Lily, the string and vocal trio formerly known as Annalivia, was September’s most-played song -- closely followed by “Get Together” by Lowell Levinger, formerly of The Youngbloods. Top Albums and Songs of July 2011 (FOLKDJ-L)
Beginning this month, AcousticMusicScene.com is pleased to publish the monthly Top Albums and Songs charts compiled by Richard Gillmann of KBCS-FM in Bellevue/Seattle, Washington, from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. In July 2011, Gillian Welch had both the top album and top two songs for the month, while the debut album by Brother Sun (the trio comprised of Greg Greenway, Joe Jencks and Pat Wictor) was #2 on the the albums chart. Scotland's Battlefield Band had both the #3 album and song for July.
