Winners Named in 2024 Canadian Folk Music Awards

Winners of this year’s Canadian Folk Music Awards were recognized at a bilingual, celebratory and music-filled event that took place over two nights during the 2024 CFMAs, April 3-7, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. William Prince, a Winnipeg, Manitoba-based singer-songwriter from Peguis First Nation, was the top recipient -- with awards for Contemporary Album of the Year (Stand in the Joy), Solo Artist of the Year, and Single of the Year (“When You Miss Someone”). Virtual Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival Set for Feb. 18-20

Winterfolk, Toronto, Ontario’s annual blues and roots festival, will be streamed online, February 18-20, 2022 from 7-10 p.m. EST all three nights. As was the case last year, the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted festival organizers to pivot to an online event. Virtual Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival Set for Feb. 19-20

Winterfolk, Toronto, Ontario’s annual blues and roots festival, will be streamed online, February 19-20, 2021 from 7-10 p.m. EST both nights due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The scaled-back virtual edition of the popular festival, now in its 19th year, will feature some of the artists who have previously graced its stages. 2018 SWRFA Conference Shaping Up for September; Showcase Artists Selected

More than 250 people will converge on the Montreat Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Asheville and Black Mountain, May 16-20, 2018 for the 11th annual Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) Conference. An extended weekend of contemporary and traditional folk music, networking and learning opportunities, the conference will be keynoted by Jim Rooney and features two-dozen juried official showcases. The official showcases take place Thursday-Saturday evenings from 7:15-10:30 p.m., with each artist/act performing a 15-minute set.
