“Traditions” on WFDU-FM (Teaneck, New Jersey)
Ron Olesko and Bill Hahn host “Traditions,” a three-hour program airing on WFDU (89.1 FM and online at www.alpha.fd.edu/wfdu/wfdu/fm/traditions.html). Originating from the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, the broadcast can be heard Sundays from 3-6 p.m. EST. Although “traditional” music is emphasized, new traditions and artists – like up-and-comer Antje Duvekot – are also showcased. Ron and Bill add historical perspective and insightful commentary to the music they spin.

“Sunday Street” on WUSB-FM (Stony Brook, New York)
Charlie Backfish has been hosting the acoustic-oriented “Sunday Street” on Stony Brook University’s WUSB (90.1 FM and online at www.wusb.org) from Stony Brook, NY since 1978. The show, airing Sundays from 9-11:30 a.m. EST, often features live interviews and in-studio performance from guest artists, many of whom are appearing that afternoon as part of the Sunday Street Acoustic Concert Series at The University Café. Among those visiting Charlie in the studio in coming weeks are: Beaucoup Blue (Jan. 7, following the duo’s appearance in the Folk Music Society of Huntington’s Emerging Artists Showcase the previous night), Garland Jeffreys (Jan. 14) and Ellis Paul (Jan. 21).

WUMB Folk Radio from Boston, Massachusetts
Originating from the University of Massachusetts’s campus in Boston, WUMB (91.9 FM and streaming online at www.wumb.org, where a wealth of other folk and acoustic news and information also is posted) bills itself as the “only all folk music radio station” in the nation. Well, on terrestrial radio, in any event. Its 24-hours a day folk streams include Celtic Journey, Contemporary Folk, L’Air du Temps, Traditional Folk and X-Stream Folk.
