“People of the Earth,” from acoustic pop singer-songwriter Glen Roethel’s forthcoming release, Smaller Things, will appear in the new Unity Songbook, Special Services and Chants, Volume 2.  The songbook, published by the Association of Unity Churches International, is due out in June.

When writing “People of the Earth,” Roethel, who also is the designer of AcousticMusicScene.com, was inspired by the teachings of Wallace Black Elk, a Lakota medicine man.  Says Roethel, “The Lakota believe that all living beings are sacred and connected, and that we’re all people of the earth.

We are all children of the Creator

Sharing one journey, Earth is our Mother

We are all family, sisters and brothers

We are all people of the Earth
