Entries are now being accepted in the fourth annual International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA).  Intended to “promote excellence in acoustic music performance and artistry,” IAMA is open to amateur and professional musicians and songwriters in various genres.

A panel of judges — comprised of A&R managers, publishers and producers — will evaluate submissions based on music performance, songwriting/composition/song choice, music production and originality.  An overall grand prize winner will be named, along with first-place winners and runners-up in eight categories – Folk/Americana/Roots, AAA/Alternative, Instrumental, Bluegrass, Acoustic Open Genre (open to any genre in the acoustic style, such as blues and world), Best Group/Duo, Best Female Artist & Best Male Artist.  The duo Fertitta & McClintock were the overall grand prize winners in last year’s competition, which drew more than 3,000 entries.

In addition to merchandise and services, winning artists and runners-up in each category will have a track featured on a compilation CD that will be distributed to radio stations in the U.S. and Canada.

Although independent artists and labels are welcome to enter as many songs in as many categories as they want, each entry requires a separate entry form, one-track CD, lyric sheet (except in the instrumental category) and $35 entry fee.  All entries must be postmarked by Nov. 9.  For entry forms and additional information, visit www.inacoustic.com/entryform.html.
