Chad & Jeremy (the psychedelic folk-rock duo who were part of the 1960s "British Invasion" of our shores), Mason Williams (former head writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and composer of  “Classical Gas"), and contemporary artists The Kennedys, Zoe Lewis and Cosy Sheridan headline the 16th Annual South Florida Folk Festival, Jan. 19-20, 2008.  Presented by the Broward Folk Club, the festival, for which advanced tickets are $55 ($5 less for members), takes place at Markham Park in Sunrise (near Fort Lauderdale) and will feature two stages, a workshop/children’s area and a jam tent.

Also slated to perform at the festival are singer-songwriters Nick Annis, John William Davis, Freebo, Andrew McKnight, Tom Neilson, Dave Potts, Vickie Russell, Ben Scales, Danny Schmidt and Brook Williams, as well as the duos Four Shillings Short and Hungrytown. The duo of Jennings and Keller, Rod MacDonald, Amy Carol Webb, and Annie Wenz are among the nearly 20 Florida-based artists on the schedule.

The festival also recently announced its singer-songwriter competition finalists.  They are Allison Adams of Decatur, GA; Derek Aramburu of Houston, TX; Arlon Bennett of Northvale, NJ; Ellen Bunkstel of Southwest Ranches, FL; David T. Carter of Graton, CA; Jud Caswell of Brunswick, ME; Friction Farm of Alpharetta, GA; Larry Mangum of Jacksonville, FL; Michael McDarrah of Phoenix, AZ; Dave Potts of Auburn, AL; Lori J. Rosolowsky of Doylestown, PA; and Storyhill of Bozeman, MT.
