Nominees for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, to be presented by the Recording Academy on February 10 in Los Angeles, were announced yesterday.

Nominated for Best Bluegrass Album (Vocal or Instrumental) are Cherryholmes II Black and White, Cherryholmes; Lefty’s Old Guitar, J.D. Crowe & The New South; The Bluegrass Diaries, Jim Lauderdale; Scenechronized, Seldom Scene; and Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular, Tony Trischka.

Among the nominees for Best Traditional Folk Album (Vocal or Instrumental) are Try Me One More Time, David Bromberg; Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John, Peter Case; Banjo Talkin’, Cathy Fink; Dirt Farmer, Levon Helm; and Charlie Louvin, Charlie Louvin.

In the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album (Vocal or Instrumental) category, the nominees are The Calling, Mary Chapin Carpenter; My Name Is Buddy, Ry Cooder; Washington Square Serenade, Steve Earle; Children Running Through, Patty Griffin; and Orphans, Tom Waits.

Nominees in the newly added Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album category include Le Cowboy Creole, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie; King Cake, Lisa Haley; Live: A La Blue Moon, Lost Bayou Ramblers; Blues de Musicien, Pine Leaf Boys; La Louisianne Sessions, Roddie Romero and The Hub City All-Stars; and Live! Worldwide, Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience.

In addition, The Live Wire – Woody Guthrie in Performance 1949 is among the nominees for Best Historical Album.
