Summer is in full swing on Long Island, with lots of outdoor concerts and festivals. Indoor concerts, open mic nights and jam sessions also abound. Warm weather and some hot acoustic music remain in the forecast.  Here’s a rundown of nearly 150 summertime acoustic music happenings from Brooklyn to the East End.

Thursday, 7/10

Johnny Cuomo, LI-based singer-songwriter, Molly Malone’s, 124 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore.  8-11 p.m.

EasyCore Music and Media Happy Hour features a solo acoustic performance by singer-songwriter Jay Scott, whose new album, Homegrown, meshes folk, rock, blues, country and jazz, Munchaba Lounge, 58 Gardiners Avenue (behind King Kullen), Levittown. 7 p.m.  No cover.

Second Annual Great South Bay Music Festival features some 40 musical acts (rock, jam, folk and blues) including living blues-folk legend Odetta, LI-based folk-pop singer-songwriter Caroline Doctorow,  local Delta blues and ragtime guitarist Bennett Harris, Jack’s Waterfall (the eclectic, high-energy, LI-based acoustic ensemble fronted by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jack Licitra),  and alternative acoustic foursome Return to the Dream (featuring Martha Trachtenberg, Tom Griffith, Diane Garisto and Andy Hunerberg).   Shorefront Park, Patchogue.  (www.greatsouthbaymusicfestival.com). Claudia Jacobs Band plays the Grounds and Sounds Café at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Stony Brook on Nichols Road (just north of Route 247, near the university).  8:45 p.m. performance is preceded by an open mic at 8 p.m.  $10.

Multiple Musicians Against Multiple Myeloma, a six-hour benefit concert, will feature numerous LI-based musicians (Sean Grace, Bari Koral and Russ Seeger among them).  MMAMM raises money for the International Myeloma Foundation, an organization that provides research and support for those facing this rare and incurable blood cancer that claimed the life of local guitarist and singer Lee Grayson six years ago.  Tupelo Honey , 39 Roslyn Avenue, Sea Cliff, hosts the fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m. $20 minimum donation at the door; children 12 and under admitted free.  A street fair also takes place featuring drum circles, face painting, auctions and more. Bill Carney’s Jug Addicts, raucous NYC-based jug band with a wide-ranging repertoire that includes old-time, tin pan alley tunes, early jazz and blues, plays Barbes, 376 Ninth Street (corner of Sixth Avenue), Park Slope, Brooklyn. 10 p.m.

Long Island Irish Fest 2008 features dozens of musical acts and dance troupes on three stages over three days, along with ceili and set dancing, instrumental workshops and clinics (including tin whistle), and an Irish marketplace.  Performers include NYC’s rollicking Black 47 and jig rockers The Prodigals, plus Bangers & Mash, The Barley Boys, Ceili Rain, Andy Cooney, The Dublin City Ramblers, Frank Emerson, MacTalla Mor, The McKrells, Morning Star, Stone Cross and more. Aztec Two-Step, the harmonious, folk-rockin’ duo of Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman, has been making wonderful music together for more than 35 years.  This evening, they’ll pay homage to another musical duo from New York who made it a bit bigger in the music biz as they interpret and perform timeless classics from “The Simon & Garfunkel Songbook.” Former Long Islander Pete Fornatale — a rock historian, author, veteran radio DJ and longtime host of "Mixed Bag" — joins Aztec Two-Step for what promises to be an enjoyable evening of music on the Chapin Rainbow Stage at Heckscher Park, Main Street (Route 25A) and Prime Avenue, Huntington. 9-11:45 p.m.  Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Third Annual Huntington Folk Festival, co-presented by the Huntington Arts Council and the Folk Music Society of Huntington, features the incomparable Christine Lavin with opening act Gathering Time. Lavin is among the most engaging, entertaining and witty singer-songwriters on the contemporary folk music scene.  A prolific songwriter with 18 albums of original songs to her credit, she also has been a major booster of other artists within the folk and singer-songwriter community for years and was an original member of the Four Bitchin’ Babes.  Gathering Time, the new folk-rock harmony trio — featuring Glen Roethel, Stuart Markus and Hillary Foxsong — has been capturing attention and fans with its spirited blend of folk and acoustic originals, stylistic interpretations of choice covers, and wonderful three-part vocal harmonies. The 8:30 p.m. concert on the Chapin Rainbow Stage at Heckscher Park, Main Street (Route 25A and Prime Avenue, Huntington, will be preceded by an unplugged open jam and song swap near the gazebo at 4 p.m..
