Finalists have been named in the fourth annual songwriting contest sponsored by The New York Songwriters Circle. A panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner of $25,000 in cash and prizes plus bragging rights during live performances by the 12 finalists, Nov. 18-19, at The Bitter End in New York City.

The 12 songwriting contest finalists are: Barnaby Bright (“Gravity”), Kate Branagh (“Tether”), Caleb Hawley (“Other Side Of It All”), Clara Oman (“Song for Ruthie”), Janet Onyencheya (“The Element”), Adrien Reju (“When The Curtain Falls”), Martin Rivas (“North”), Bobby Smith (“The Breakup”), Chloe Temtchine (“Four Letter Fever”), Justin Tracy (“Secrets”), The Sweet Remains (“Easy”), and Reed Waddle (“Piece By Piece”). Previous winners include Kate Voegele, Company of Thieves and Mieka Pauley.

In addition to the main songwriting contest, a “Young Songwriters Award” winner will be named on Nov. 19 from among finalists Ali Brustofski, 15, of New York, NY; Aubrey Caswell, 17, of Thousand Oaks, CA; and Maddie Georgi, 17, of Pittsburgh, PA.

Using the renowned “Writers in the Round” nights at Nashville’s Bluebird Café as its model, The New York Songwriters Circle has been producing and directing bimonthly shows in New York City for nearly 20 years and recently began hosting live music showcases in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia as well.
