Category winners have been named in the 29th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, produced by the Songwriters’ Association of Washington. Grand Prize, 2nd Overall, 3rd overall, BMI Songwriter Award and Director’s Choice winners will be announced during an awards gala on Sunday evening, Jan. 27, 2013 at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia.

Tony Denikos is the first place (Gold) winner in the Folk/Acoustic category for “Tip of My Tongue.” Justin Trawick and Connor Garvey tied for second place (Silver) with “All the Places That I’ve Been” and “The Bird,” respectively. Finalists include Susan Greenbaum (“Fireworks”), Michael Knox and Kurtis Parks (“Little Boat”) and Tom Neilson (“Running for the Gold”).

R. Mack Harrell captured the Gold in the Country/Bluegrass category for “Whiskey Reigns.” Susan Greenbaum took Silver for “He’s Not Leavin’.” Tony Denikos (“Home for Christmas”) and Kevin Dudley (“Bull Run Creek” and “Evangeline”) were named as finalists.

Winners also were named in nine other categories, while Matthew Prodanovich, Adam Bracken, Michael Pereira, John Fengya, Mark Siford and Michael Chinen shared the award for Best Young Artist for “Where I’m Coming From.” A list of winners, finalists and honorable mention recipients in all categories appears at www.saw.org.
