Caitlin Canty, Matt Nakoa, Jean Rohe and Tumbling Bones have been invited to participate in the Most Wanted Song Swap at this summer’s Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. They were chosen in balloting by 2014 festival attendees from among 24 artists/bands who performed in last year’s Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artists Showcase.

Caitlin Canty is a Vermont-bred, New York City-based singer-songwriter with an Americana-rootsy rock style. She has recorded and released several CDs. Her latest, Reckless Skyline, was produced by noted songwriter Jeffrey Foucault and released in late January. It has drawn critical acclaim, while at least a couple full-band shows to promote it across the Northeast U.S. this winter have been sellouts.

Matt Nakoa is a Brooklyn, NY-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who grew up on a small goat farm in upstate New York and received top honors in songwriting and vocal performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston following a formative stint as a concert pianist. He was named a winner in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition for Emerging Songwriters last year and also released his second album, A Dozen Other Loves, in 2014.

Jean Rohe is also a Brooklyn, NY-based singer-songwriter who blends folk, jazz and Brazilian traditions in her captivating live performances. Her narrative songs have drawn recognition from the ASCAP Foundation and The New York Songwriters Circle. “National Anthem: Arise, Arise,” her aspirational alternative national anthem for the United States, is a crowd favorite and has been covered by choirs and bands across the country, while her latest album, Jean Rohe & The End of the World Show, won three Independent Music Awards in 2014.

Tumbling Bones is a harmonizing male acoustic trio from Portland, Maine. Inspired by old music, the group performs a mix of original compositions and traditional material drawing on bluegrass and pre-war folk as well as the rock n’ roll on which the guys were raised. Tumbling Bones embarked on a tour of Eastern Europe last November as U.S. State Department-backed cultural ambassadors through the American Music Abroad cultural exchange program and will return to Estonia and Ukraine this April. The trio released its debut full-length recording, Loving A Fool, last June.

Among the Northeast’s most popular music festivals, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, now in its 27th year, takes place July 31-August 2, 2015 at Dodds Farm on Route 7D in Hillsdale, New York, located in the foothills of the Berkshires near the tri-state corner of New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The festival features dozens of artists performing on several stages (including a dance tent), children’s music and activities, and a wide array of crafts, food and other vendors. Late-night unplugged music can be found at the AcousticMusicScene.com tent at Pirate Camp and at other campsites. A pre-fest day of activities also is set for Thursday, July 30.
