Finalists have been announced in the 10th annual performing songwriting contest produced by The Philadelphia Songwriters Project. The 12 singer-songwriters – who hail from Maryland, New York and New Jersey, as well as the Philadelphia area – include Annika Scilipote, Ben O’Neill, Jeanette Lynne, Adam Web, Cat Ricketts, Avi Wisnia, Alyssa Garcia, Joe Marson, Angela Burns, Rob Camarino, Stetson Rose, and Jeff Waters.
The finalists were chosen by judging panels comprised of music industry professionals (including AcousticMusicScene.com’s editor & publisher) who evaluated submitted songs based on lyrics, music and performance quality. The 12 finalists will compete in a live showcase on Sunday afternoon, May 31, at The Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, during which a panel of celebrity judges and the audience will select four winners and two alternates. Winners will be afforded opportunities to perform during various festivals and venues in the region this summer.
Advance tickets for the Finals Showcase, which is slated for 4 p.m., may be purchased online via The Philadelphia Songwriters Project website (www.phillysongwriters.com), where you can also find short bios of the artists and links to listen to their music.
Established in 2003, The Philadelphia Songwriters Project is a nonprofit organization that serves as a resource for local and regional songwriters – providing them with opportunities to showcase their music, learn, network and advance their careers.
