Music United Convention

The Roots Music Association will host its inaugural convention, radio seminar and music festival — Music United ’08 — June 27-29, at the Alfazar Shrine Conference Center in San Antonio, at the edge of the Texas Hill Country.  Early-bird registration fees for those who register by March 28 are $125 for the full conference and $50 for the radio seminar only on Saturday, June 28.

An opening night party will kick off the festivities (for early-bird and VIP guests only).  Full-conference registration also will include admission to a two-day music festival and awards presentation, interactive panel discussions and presentations on an eclectic array of industry hot topics, passes to industry showcases featuring artists from a wide array of roots-based genres, a trade show, a Friday luncheon and Sunday gospel/pancake breakfast, and plenty of networking opportunities.  Each registrant also will receive a conference guide and goodie bag.

The Roots Music Association (RMA) was created to promote, foster and cultivate the preservation, enjoyment, support and performance of “roots” music worldwide.  The RMA describes itself as a grassroots membership organization that is committed to providing a voice and forum for all roots-based music formats in an alliance that will strive for the advancement of independent artists and encourage radio stations to play music outside of mainstream Top 40 charts.  The organization’s leaders say the “Music United” theme was chosen for its inaugural convention because it “speaks to the holistic, inclusive and universal approach the RMA uses to support its membership base and their collective vision.”
