SWRFA Extends Showcase Application Deadline

July 15 is the deadline for artists to submit applications for official showcases during the 14th Annual Southwest Regional Folk Alliance (SWRFA) Conference, which takes place at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Austin, Texas, Sept. 26-29, 2013. David Francey, one of Canada's most revered singer-songwriters, had both the most-played album (So Say We All) and song ("Rain") on folk radio during May 2013, according to charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. People’s Music Network Hosts Summer Gathering, June 7-9

Immigration is the theme of the annual Summer Gathering of the People's Music Network for Songs of Freedom and Struggle (PMN), an inclusive three-day weekend of music, fun and friendship. Winners Named in International Songwriting Competition

Singer-songwriter Joshua Hanson of Irvine, California has been named the grand prize winner in the 2012 International Songwriting Competition (ISC). The lead singer and songwriter for indie folk-rock trio Yellow Red Sparks was recognized for his song "Monsters with Misdemeanors," which was entered in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category.
