AcousticMusicScene.com is pleased to publish the monthly Top Albums and Songs charts compiled by Richard Gillmann of KBCS-FM in Bellevue/Seattle, Washington, from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. In October 2011, Light in the Sky, the new release by female Americana-roots trio Red Molly, topped the albums chart and also sported three of the top 10 songs. The #1 most played song of the month on folk radio was a rendition of Paul Simon's "Leaves That Are Green" by folksinger and jewelry designer Mara Levine with folk harmony trio Gathering Time from her forthcoming album, Jewels and Harmony.

Pieta Brown's album Mercury continues to top the Roots Music Report folk radio chart this week, while albums by The Civil Wars, Abigail Washburn, Eliza Gilkyson , Madison Violet and Colin Hay retain the next five positions, respectively. Gillian Welch's The Harrow & the Harvest retakes the #1 position on the #1 position on the roots country chart,followed by albums by Catherine MacLellan, Robert Earl Keen, Kasey Chambers, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Joe Ely.
