AcousticMusicScene.com’s Michael Kornfeld, who also is a communications and public relations strategist, will be among the panelists discussing “Music Marketing, Publicity & Press: The New Media Revolution” during the third annual Singer-Songwriter Cape May. The music business conference is set for Friday and Saturday, March 26-27, in the historic Victorian-lined New Jersey seaside resort community.
SS Cape May will feature two afternoons of music business keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, mentoring and demo-listening sessions, exhibits and performance critiques at Congress Hall and Harrison Conference Center, as well as two evenings of artist showcases at various venues. Showcase Deadline Nears for Singer Songwriter Cape May
More than 130 acts, from solo artists to full bands, will be selected to showcase at 15 venues over two nights during the third annual Singer Songwriter Cape May music business conference set for March 26-27, 2010 in the historic Victorian-lined New Jersey seaside resort community. January 14 is the deadline for singer-songwriters in all genres to submit showcase applications.

Future of Music Coalition Hosts Policy Summit, Oct. 4-6
“DC 101: A Musician’s Guide to the Policy Landscape,” “Digital Ducets: Getting Paid in the Networked Age” and “Music 2.0: How Musicians Can Use Technologies to Promote and Distribute Their Work” are among the topics to be discussed during the Future of Music Coalition’s 8th Policy Summit slated for October 4-6 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The event will feature musician-focused workshops and panel discussions; keynotes from artists, managers and policy makers (including newly seated U.S. Senator Al Franken, D-Minn.); networking opportunities; and a documentary screening.

Early Registration Opens for International Folk Alliance Conference
The 22nd Annual International Folk Alliance Conference is slated for next February 17-22 in Memphis, Tennessee. However, financial savings are in the offing through early registration that is now open, while forms also are available on the Folk Alliance International’s website (www.folk.org) for performing artists to apply for showcase opportunities. New Music Seminar Set for July 21 in New York City
Seeking to empower and inform developing artists whom he feels have been disenfranchised and disheartened by the state of the music industry and are desperate for change, Thomas Silverman, owner of Tommy Boy Entertainment, is bringing back the New Music Seminars that he co-founded nearly 30 years ago. The influential music business gatherings, which helped to spawn other major music conferences, initially ran from 1980-1995.
