Rocky Mtn Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase Finalists Chosen
Ten singer-songwriters have been named as finalists in the 2018 Rocky Mtn Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase and will open the festival on August 18 as they perform on its main stage in Lyons, Colorado – a historic quarry town, 15 miles north of Boulder, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. They also will perform during in-the-round sessions in the Wildflower Pavilion on Aug. 18 and 19 – where songwriting workshops will take place throughout the weekend.

American Roots Music Festival Set for June 23 at Caramoor in New York’s Hudson Valley
The American Roots Music Festival at Caramoor, an annual day-long family-friendly celebration of acoustic music, takes place Saturday, June 23. Winners Named in 2018 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition
Six singer-songwriters have been named as winners in the 2018 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition for Emerging Songwriters. They were chosen by a panel of judges from among 32 finalists who performed two songs each during the New Folk Concerts on May 26 and 27 as part of the Kerrville Folk Festival, an 18-day event at the Quiet Valley Ranch in the Texas Hill Country.

NERFA Presents Mid-Winter FolkFest to be Live Streamed from Club Passim, Jan. 27
Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) is pleased to partner with Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts to present a Mid-Winter FolkFest on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 12-4 p.m. The afternoon of music emanating from the legendary Harvard Square listening room and featuring 11 artists/acts in a combination of song swaps and short showcases will be livestreamed via Concert Window. Mid-January is Music Festival Time in Florida
Floridians and visitors to the Sunshine State can escape the winter doldrums and enjoy some fine music in mid-January. The South Florida Folk Festival and the 30A Songwriters Festival take place over the same weekend in different parts of the state. The former includes the finals of an annual singer-songwriter competition, while the latter features such big-name talents as Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris.

Philadelphia Folk Festival Set for Aug. 17-20
Thousands of music lovers are expected to converge on Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township, near bucolic Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Aug. 17-20, for the annual Philadelphia Folk Festival. Now in its 56th year, the event, produced and presented by the Philadelphia Folksong Society, a nonprofit arts organization, is the longest continuously running outdoor music festival of its kind in North America.

Hundreds of folk, roots and bluegrass music fans from throughout the New York metropolitan area are expected to converge on Germonds Park in West Nyack, NY on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 27, for the annual, picnic and music festival presented by the Borderline Folk Music Club and the Town of Clarkston, and co-sponsored by AcousticMusicScene.com, Folk Music Society of Huntington, The Folk Music Society of New York (aka Pinewoods Folk Music Club), and Tribes Hill. The free event, extending from noon to 6 p.m., will feature a musical tribute to Leonard Cohen, the influential and much-revered singer, songwriter and poet who died last November at age 82.
