Top Albums & Songs – June 2016 (FOLKDJ-L)
Ivas John, Sarah Jarosz, Spook Handy, Ana Egge and The Sentimentals, and Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle had the most-played albums and songs on folk radio during June 2016. So say the airplay charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio.

Anna Tivel is 2016 Telluride Troubadour
Anna Tivel, a Portland, Oregon-based singer songwriter, won the 2016 Telluride Troubadour Competition and had the opportunity to perform a short set on the main stage during the 43rd Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival, a roots-oriented music festival set amid Colorado’s rugged San Juan Mountains, June 16-19.

American Roots Music Festival at Caramoor Set for June 25
John Fullbright, Hurray for the Riff Raff and Sara Watkins are among the artists slated to perform on Saturday, June 25, during the sixth annual American Roots Music Festival at Caramoor -- a daylong, family-friendly celebration of acoustic music. 2016 Kerrville New Folk Winners Named
Six singer-songwriters were named as winners in the 2016 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition for Emerging Songwriters. They were selected by a panel of judges from among 32 finalists who performed two songs each during the New Folk Concerts on May 28 and 29 as part of the Kerrville Folk Festival, an 18-day event at the Quiet Valley Ranch in the Texas Hill Country. The six will perform during a New Folk Winners concert at the festival on Sunday afternoon, June 5, and will receive cash honorariums and other prizes.

DelFest 2016 Set for Memorial Day Weekend
DelFest 2016 takes place at the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maryland over Memorial Day Weekend. Joining the Del McCoury Band and Del’s sons’ spin-offs, The Travelin’ McCourys and The McCoury Brothers, May 26-29, at the fairgrounds, nestled along the Potomac River in the Appalachian Mountains, 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C., will be a host of other artists.
