Joy of Living: A Tribute to Ewan MacColl was the most-played album on folk radio during September 2015, closely followed by Songs of Heart and Home by Greg Blake -- who was also the month’s most-played artist. “House Carpenter” by Low Lily, the string and vocal trio formerly known as Annalivia, was September’s most-played song -- closely followed by “Get Together” by Lowell Levinger, formerly of The Youngbloods. So say charts compiled from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio.

Regional Finalists Named in 2013 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest
Regional finalists have been named in the 2013 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest. Ten regional finalists were selected from each of the six regions, and judges will select one winner from each, who will then advance to the live performance competition finals on Saturday, October 19 at New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

AcousticMusicScene.com Hosts Late-Night Music at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
AcousticMusicScene.com will host a series of late-night song swaps, mini-showcases and open song circles during the 25th annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, August 1-4, in partnership with Pirate Camp, which was informally launched by Stuart Kabak and the late Jack Hardy a decade ago to provide a warm and welcoming haven for sharing music, food and camaraderie.

Top Albums and Songs of October 2012 (FOLKDJ-L)
Red House recording artist Lucy Kaplansky, a popular New York-based contemporary folk singer-songwriter, reportedly had the most played album on folk radio during October 2012. Reunion, her latest release, also featured four of the ten most-played songs, according to charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. Boston-based new acoustic folk quartet Annalivia had the month's #1 most-played song, "False Sir John." Kaplansky's new CD also has topped the Roots Music Report folk radio chart for the past several weeks.
