Top Albums and Songs of 2016 (FOLKDJ-L)
Folk-harmony trio Brother Sun had the most-played album (Weights & Wings) on folk radio during 2016, while Indiana-based singer-songwriter Tim Grimm had the most-played song (“Woody’s Landlord”), according to charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. Bob Dylan was the year’s most-played artist.

Top Albums & Songs of April 2016 (FOLKDJ-L)
Folk harmony trio Brother Sun’s album Weights & Wings was #1 on folk radio during April 2016. The trio -- comprised of veteran touring singer-songwriters Greg Greenway, Joe Jencks and Pat Wictor -- also had the most-played song (“Mary Don’t You Weep and Moan”). So say the airplay charts compiled from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio.

Apply Now for Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase
May 20 is the application submission deadline for the annual Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase. From among all entries received, 24 artists/acts will be selected for two-song/10-minute spots on the main stage on Friday, August 5, during the 28th annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.

AcousticMusicScene.com will host a series of late-night song swaps during the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, July 30-August 2, in partnership with Pirate Camp, which was informally launched by Stuart Kabak and the late Jack Hardy more than a decade ago to provide a warm and welcoming haven for sharing music, food and camaraderie.

It’s Music Festival Time in New York State
Music festivals abound in New York State in late June. Among those of note are Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival (June 20-21 in Croton-on-Hudson), Old Songs Festival (June 26-28 in Altamont), American Roots Music Festival at Caramoor (June 27 in Katonah) and Rockland-Bergen Music Festival (June 27-28 in Tappan).

South Florida Folk Festival Set for Jan. 17-18
Brother Sun, Gathering Time, Hardin Burns, Harpeth Rising, Passerine and David Roth headline the 2015 South Florida Folk Festival. Presented by the nonprofit Broward Folk Club, the festival takes place Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 17-18. More than 40 musicians will perform on two stages at Fort Lauderdale’s Hugh Taylor Birch State Park (3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., just west of A1A) over the weekend.

The trio -- comprised of veteran touring singer-songwriters Joe Jencks, Greg Greenway and Pat Wictor -- also had the most-played song, Jencks’"Lady of the Harbor," according to charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio.

2013 Connecticut Folk Festival & Green Expo Set for Sept. 7
The eighth annual Connecticut Folk Festival and Green Expo, a free, day-long event, is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, in New Haven’s Edgerton Park. It will feature performances by singer-songwriter Darrell Scott and folk harmony trios Brother Sun and The Stray Birds, among others.
