More than 800 performing artists, presenters, promoters, agents and managers, folk DJs and others actively engaged in traditional and contemporary folk music will converge on the Hudson Valley Resort in Kerhonkson, NY, Nov. 7-10, 2013, for the 19th Annual Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Conference. AcousticMusicScene.com will again have a major presence as it hosts afternoon and late-night song swaps, in addition to its popular Midnight Hoot at the close of the conference’s first day.

2013 Connecticut Folk Festival & Green Expo Set for Sept. 7
The eighth annual Connecticut Folk Festival and Green Expo, a free, day-long event, is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, in New Haven’s Edgerton Park. It will feature performances by singer-songwriter Darrell Scott and folk harmony trios Brother Sun and The Stray Birds, among others.

AcousticMusicScene.com will host a series of late-night song swaps, mini-showcases and open song circles during the 25th annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, August 1-4, in partnership with Pirate Camp, which was informally launched by Stuart Kabak and the late Jack Hardy a decade ago to provide a warm and welcoming haven for sharing music, food and camaraderie.

Portland, Maine-based singer songwriter Connor Garvey describes his music as acoustic funky folk-rock for the good-hearted. His initiation as a modern troubadour came during a 45-day self-booked cross-country train tour via Amtrak in 2008. Winners Named in Mid-Atlantic Song Contest
Category winners have been named in the 29th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, produced by the Songwriters’ Association of Washington. Grand Prize, 2nd Overall, 3rd Overall, BMI Songwriter Award and Director's Choice winners will be announced during an awards gala on Sunday evening, Jan. 27, 2013 at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia.

Finalists Named in 2012 Wildflower! Performing Songwriter Contest
Ten finalists have been named in the 2012 Wildflower! Performing Songwriter Contest. Each will perform two songs on the Singer Songwriter Stage during the 20th annual Wildflower! arts and music festival in Richardson, Texas, just a few minutes north of Dallas. Billed as North Texas’ largest music festival, it takes place, May 18-20.
