Jan. 4 is Showcase Submission Deadline for Singer-Songwriter Cape May
More than 150 acts, from solo artists to full bands, will be selected to showcase at various venues over two nights during the eighth annual Singer-Songwriter Cape May music business conference set for March 27-28, 2015 in the historic Victorian-lined New Jersey seaside resort community. The deadline for singer-songwriters in all genres to submit showcase applications via ReverbNation, Sonicbids or U.S. Mail is Jan. 4.

Q & A with Dan Navarro
Singer-songwriter Dan Navarro spent more than 20 years as part of the acclaimed acoustic duo Lowen and Navarro; has penned songs covered by other notable artists (including the Grammy-nominated “We Belong” as sung by Pat Benatar); has been a singer and voice actor in numerous movies, television series and commercials; and is an ardent champion of songwriters’ and performers’ rights. Since the 2009 retirement of his late musical partner Eric Lowen, he’s been touring widely as a solo artist. Kathy Sands-Boehmer spoke with Navarro recently. AcousticMusicScene.com Hosts Late-Night Music at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
AcousticMusicScene.com will host a series of late-night song swaps, mini-showcases and open song circles during the 25th annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, August 1-4, in partnership with Pirate Camp, which was informally launched by Stuart Kabak and the late Jack Hardy a decade ago to provide a warm and welcoming haven for sharing music, food and camaraderie.

Folk Alliance Region-West Conference Set for Nov. 6-8
Hundreds of performers, presenters, booking agents, radio programmers and others engaged in performing and promoting folk and acoustic music in the West – from Anchorage, Alaska to Phoenix, Arizona – are expected to converge on the Hyatt Regency in Irvine, California, November 6-8. The sixth annual Folk Alliance Region- West (FAR-West) Conference will feature three days of acoustic music, networking, music business education … and very little sleep.
