Paul Siebel, a folk-country singer-songwriter whose songs have been covered by a number of better-known artists, died on April 5, 2022. He was 84.

Appleseed’s 21st Anniversary: Roots and Branches by Various Artists was the top album on folk radio for a second consecutive month, while Tellico’s “Courage for the Morning” was the #1 song during November 2018. So say charts compiled from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio.

Philadelphia Folk Festival Set for Aug. 16-19
Thousands of music lovers are expected to converge on Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township, near bucolic Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Aug. 16-19, 2018 for the annual Philadelphia Folk Festival. Now in its 57th year, the event, produced and presented by the Philadelphia Folksong Society, a nonprofit arts organization, is the longest continuously running outdoor music festival of its kind in North America.

Roots Music Report Folk and Roots Country Radio Charts, 12-21-13
The David Bromberg Band's Only Slightly Mad topped the Roots Music Report folk radio airplay chart last week, while Lori McKenna's album Massachusetts returned to the #1 spot on the Americana/roots country chart.

Memories and Moments, a new album from Tim O'Brien and Darrell Scott, continued to top the Roots Music Report folk radio airplay chart last week, while David Bromberg's Only Slightly Mad was reportedly the second most played album. Still Fighting the War by Slaid Cleaves retains the #1 spot on the Americana/roots country chart.

American Roots Music Festival Set for June 30 at Caramoor in Westchester County, New York
Acoustic Hot Tuna and the David Bromberg Quartet headline the second annual American Roots Music Festival at Caramoor -- a day-long, family-friendly celebration of bluegrass, folk, string band and country blues music, on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Roots Music Report Folk & Roots Country Radio Charts, 09-16-11
Albums by The Civil Wars, Paul Simon, Eliza Gilkyson, David Bromberg and Abigail Washburn continue to retain the top five positions in the Roots Music Report Folk Radio Chart this week, although the order has changed. Meanwhile, albums by Gillian Welch and Kasey Chambers remain #1 and #2 on RMR's Roots Country chart, followed by releases from Catherine MacLellan, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings and EmmyLou Harris.

Philadelphia Folk Festival Celebrates Its Golden Anniversary
avid Amram, Roy Book Binder, David Bromberg, Arlo Guthrie, Levon Helm, Jorma Kaukonen, Tom Paxton and Tom Rush are among the music luminaries slated to perform during the 50th annual Philadelphia Folk Festival, August 18-21, 2011. Joining them at the Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township, near Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, for the longest continually running festival of its kind will be a number of up-and-coming touring artists like Dan Bern, Justin Townes Earle, David Wax Museum, the Canadian female duos Dala and Madison Violet, and Philly’s own Hoots and Hellmouth, as well as many other locally-based artists.

Dec. 2 is Early-Bird Registration and Showcase Application Deadline For 2011 International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis
The 24th Annual International Folk Alliance Conference is slated for February 16-20, 2011 in Memphis, Tennessee. However, financial savings are in the offing through early-bird registration that is open through Dec. 2, while forms also are available on the Folk Alliance International website (www.folk.org) for performing artists to apply for Performance Alley official showcase opportunities.
