Zoe Speaks, a folk-Americana group from Kentucky, had the top album (Wings) and five of the month’s most-played songs on folk radio during August 2018, while singer-songwriter Eliza Gilkyson (whose new album, Secularia, was #1 in July) had the #2 album and the #1 song for a second consecutive month {her rendition of “Down By the Riverside” with her friend, the late Jimmy LaFave). AcousticMusicScene.com Hosts Showcases at 2018 SERFA Conference in North Carolina

More than 250 people will converge on the Montreat Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Asheville and Black Mountain, May 16-20, 2018 for the 11th annual Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) Conference. An extended weekend of contemporary and traditional folk music, networking and learning opportunities, the conference will be keynoted by Jim Rooney and features two-dozen juried official showcases. The official showcases take place Thursday-Saturday evenings from 7:15-10:30 p.m., with each artist/act performing a 15-minute set. Bruce Cockburn, The Dead South and Buffy Sainte-Marie Win Juno Awards

Artist and Songwriter of the Year honors went to the late Gord Downie, while Bruce Cockburn took home Contemporary Roots Album of the Year and The Dead South won Traditional Roots Album of the Year during the 2018 JUNO Awards ceremonies on March 25 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.
