SWRFA Extends Showcase Application Deadline
July 15 is the deadline for artists to submit applications for official showcases during the 14th Annual Southwest Regional Folk Alliance (SWRFA) Conference, which takes place at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Austin, Texas, Sept. 26-29, 2013. A series of 15-minute official showcase slots are slated for Friday and Saturday nights between 7:30 and 10 p.m.

Formal Showcase Artists Chosen for 2013 NERFA Conference
Fourteen artists/acts have been selected from among 200 applicants to perform in the juried Formal Showcase during the 19th Annual Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Conference at the Hudson Valley Resort in Kerhonkson, New York, Nov. 7-10, 2013.

NERFA Hosts Two One-Day Mini-Conferences
The Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) is partnering with the Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA) and Focus Music -- which presents and supports folk and acoustic music in the Washington, D.C. area -- to present one-day mini-conferences on June 1 and 9, respectively, in Kingston, Rhode Island and Rockville, Maryland.

A.J. Croce Wins International Acoustic Music Awards
A.J. Croce is the overall grand prize winner in the ninth annual International Acoustic Music Awards. He also captured first place in the competition’s AAA/Alternative category for “I Should Have Known.”

National Folk Festival on Hiatus in 2012
The National Council for the Traditional Arts, a Maryland-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the presentation and documentation of folk and traditional arts in the United States, which launched and has hosted annual multi-ethnic folk festivals since the 1930s, announced that the National Folk Festival will take a hiatus in 2012.

New Music Seminar and New York Music Festival, June 17-20, 2012
New Music Seminar, the granddaddy of American music conferences, returns to New York, June 17-20. In addition to a number of daytime panels, workshops, intensives and keynotes at Manhattan’s Webster Hall, an accompanying NMS New York Music Festival will feature four nights of performances in 17 New York City venues. These include three nights of acoustic music showcases at The Living Room, hosted by Folk Alliance International.
