Singer-songwriter Patty Griffin's American Kid and Steve Earle & The Dukes (& Duchesses)' The Low Highway, both New West releases, have continued to top the Roots Music Report Folk and Roots Country/Americana radio airplay charts for the past several weeks. Moving up several notches to the #2 position on each of the charts are Ruth Moody's These Wilder Things and Billy Bragg's Tooth & Nail, respectively.

Folk harmony trio Brother Sun's sophomore release, Some Part of the Truth, was the the most-played album on folk radio during April 2013, as it was in March. Up Like the Clouds, the debut album from Dubl Handi, an old-time acoustic roots duo that is a major player in the popular revival of Appalachian old-time music in Brooklyn, New York, was the most-played album on folk radio during February 2013. Named after a washboard company from the 1800s, Dubl Handi features banjo player Hillary Hawke and mult-instrumental percussionist Brian Geltner. Jewels and Harmony, a collection of 15 hand-picked and beautifully interpreted contemporary folk songs by New Jersey-based folksinger and jewelry designer Mara Levine, was the most-played album on folk radio in January. Her second release includes a moving arrangement of Michael Smith's classic "The Dutchman," as sung by Levine and Si Kahn, and "When I Sing With You," a song that Kahn wrote for the album that features Gathering Time and Joe Jencks on harmony vocals.
