International Folk Music Awards Presented

Folk Alliance International honored artists and others in the folk music community during the annual International Folk Music Awards show that took place May 18, 2022 in Kansas City, Missouri on the opening night of FAI’s 34th annual conference. It was also streamed online. Allison Russell was named Artist of the Year (2021) and also accepted the award for Album of the Year (Outside Child), while Crys Matthews’ “Changemakers” was named Song of the Year. International Folk Music Awards Show Set for May 18

Folk DJ Jan Hall to Receive Estelle Klein Award

Jan Hall, host and producer of the syndicated weekly radio show, Folk Roots Radio, has been named the winner of the Estelle Klein Award that is presented by Folk Music Ontario during its annual conference in September. Established in 2000, the award honors the work of an individual or group that has made significant contributions to the Canadian province’s folk music community. The 10th annual Canadian Folk Music Awards were presented in Ottawa on Saturday evening, Nov. 29. Nominees Named for 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards

With a combined five nominations, 18-year old Quinn Bachand and his Victoria, British Columbia-based group Brishen are the top nominees vying for 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards to be presented during a gala event at the Bronson Centre in Ottawa, Ontario on Nov. 29. Fellow BC-based instrumental artists The Fretless and vocal group The High Bar Gang also received multiple nominations, as did Quebecois instrumental group MAZ and Manitoba-based singer-songwriter Del Barber.
