Darrell Scott's Long Ride Home continues to top the roots country chart.

Top Albums and Songs of March 2012 (FOLKDJ-L)
AcousticMusicScene.com is pleased to publish the monthly Top Albums and Songs charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. In March 2012, Little Blue Egg, a collection of archived home and studio recordings that Tracy Grammer and her late partner Dave Carter made between 1997 and 2002, topped the albums chart for a second month. It was followed by Lay Down, Lay Low, the new album by Shenandoah Valley-based Americana roots outfit The Steel Wheels, which also sported four of the month's top 10 most-played songs -- including "Breaking Like The Sun" at #1.

Chatting with Tracy Grammer About Dave Carter
Tracy Grammer— who has served as the “keeper of the flame” regarding her late partner Dave Carter’s songs — has released a new collection of archived and rediscovered home and studio recordings of the duo’s tunes. Entitled Little Blue Egg, the album topped the Folk DJ chart last month. In a recent chat with New Jersey-based singer-songwriter Sharon Goldman, Grammer shared her memories of Dave Carter’s creative process as well as his songwriting habits, advice and inspiration. Goldman’s article, written for Songwriting Scene, her blog for songwriters about songwriting, is re-posted here with permission.

NERFA Hosts Two One-Day Mini-Conferences This Spring
Based on the success of its first one-day mini-conference in Massachusetts last April, which drew more than 175 people, the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) has scheduled two such events for this spring in different parts of the region. One is slated for Saturday, May 5, at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center in Bethesda, Maryland, while the other is set for Saturday, June 2, at the University of Massachusetts-Boston campus. Early-bird registration and showcase application deadlines are quickly approaching for both events.
