FAI Folk Radio Charts – July 2024
The Magnolia Janes had the top album (The Light Years) on folk radio during July 2024, edging out Beppe Gambetta’s Terra Madre, while Gambetta’s “Sit and Pick With You” was the most-played song for a second time – edging out songs by The Magnolia Janes and Beth DeSombre. Happy Traum, who died on July 17, was the month’s most-played artist. So say charts compiled by Folk Alliance International based on radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in folk-based music on the radio.

Happy Traum was the most-played artist on folk radio during August 2022, while his recent release, There’s a Bright Side Somewhere, was the top album and its title track was the month’s most-played song. Clearwater’s Virtual Great Hudson River Revival Streams June 19
For a second consecutive year, Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, a festival celebrating environmental activism and education, traditionally held over the Father’s Day weekend won’t be taking place at Croton Point Park in Croton-On-Hudson in New York’s Hudson Valley due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, you can enjoy music by many talented artists from the comfort of your own home on Saturday, June 19, 2021 when Clearwater presents the Great Hudson River Revival Livestream.

Tony Rice, Bluegrass Guitar Virtuoso, 1951-2020
Tony Rice, an influential acoustic guitarist and 2013 inductee into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, died on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2020 at his home in Reidsville, North Carolina. He was 69.

FreshGrass Returns to MASS MoCA, Sept. 19-21
FreshGrass, a family-friendly bluegrass and roots music festival in the Berkshires of northwestern Massachusetts, is slated for Sept. 19-21, 2014. For three days and nights, the indoor galleries and outdoor courtyards and meadows of the Mass MoCA campus in North Adams will be filled with the sounds of banjos, fiddles, guitars, mandolins and voices of traditionalists and trailblazers alike.
