The Village Out West: The Lost Tapes of Alan Oakes by various artists (Smithsonian Folkways) was the most-played album on folk radio during October 2021, while Jonathan Edwards’ “Right Where I am” was the top song and John McCutcheon was the month’s most-played artist (as he was in September). Appleseed’s 21st Anniversary: Roots and Branches by Various Artists was the top album on folk radio for a second consecutive month, while Tellico’s “Courage for the Morning” was the #1 song during November 2018. Bill Keith, Banjo Player and Stylist, 1939-2015
Bill Keith, a noted five-string banjoist who introduced a melodic style of playing the instrument and designed a specialized type of tuning peg that bears his name, died Oct. 23 at age 75.

Top Albums & Songs of July 2015 (FOLKDJ-L)
For a second consecutive month, Tomorrow’s Child, the new album by Jonathan Edwards – the singer-songwriter best-known for the 1971 hit single “Sunshine (Go Away Today)” – was the most-played album on folk radio during July 2015. New Bedford Folk Festival Set for July 5-6, 2014
The New Bedford Folk Festival, formerly known as the Greater New Bedford Summerfest, is one of the Northeast’s most pleasant, refined and enjoyable music festivals. Slated for July 5-6, 2014 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and now in its 19th year, the family-oriented festival takes over the cobblestoned streets of this historic New England port city –- which is part of the Whaling National Historic Park.
