Application Deadline Nears for Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase
May 10 is the application submission deadline for the annual Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase. From among all entries received, 24 artists/acts will be selected for two-song/10-minute spots on the main stage on Friday afternoon, August 2, during the 31st annual Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.

Arts Presenters, Performing Artists Gather in NYC in January
Several thousand people are expected to converge on New York City, Jan. 6-10, 2017 for the annual conference of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP). Now in its 60th year, the global performing arts marketplace and conference will feature more than 1000 showcases (including a few-dozen featuring folk and roots music artists), nearly 400 exhibitors, networking opportunities galore, daily plenary sessions and keynote speakers, and a wide array of professional development workshops and forums. Four plenary sessions will live stream free, while Wavelengths: APAP Global Music Pre-Conference is open to the public as are some of the ticketed showcases at venues throughout the city.

Top Albums and Songs of September 2015 (FOLKDJ-L)
Joy of Living: A Tribute to Ewan MacColl was the most-played album on folk radio during September 2015, closely followed by Songs of Heart and Home by Greg Blake -- who was also the month’s most-played artist. “House Carpenter” by Low Lily, the string and vocal trio formerly known as Annalivia, was September’s most-played song -- closely followed by “Get Together” by Lowell Levinger, formerly of The Youngbloods. So say charts compiled from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio.
