New York-based contemporary folk singer-songwriter Lucy Kaplansky's new album, Reunion, tops the Roots Music Report folk radio airplay chart this week. Alberta-born honky-tonk singer-songwriter Corb Lund's new release, Cabin Fever, moves into the #1 position on the roots country chart.

Roots Music Report Folk and Roots Country Radio Charts, 10-05-12
Singer-songwriter Caroline Herring's Camilla (Signature Sounds) retains the top spot on the Roots Music Report folk radio chart this week, while Lucy Kaplansky's Reunion climbs to #2. Kin - Songs by Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell (Vanguard) remains #1 on the roots country chart., followed by Ryan Bingham's self-released Tomorrowland.

Richard Meyer, Singer-Songwriter and Fast Folk Editor, 1952-2012
Richard Meyer, a singer-songwriter who also was an integral part of the folk music scene in New York’s Greenwich Village during the 1980s and 1990s as a booker for the Speakeasy and longtime editor of Fast Folk Musical Magazine (1986-1997), died May 14, 2012 at age 59.

Top Folk Albums and Songs of September 2011 (FOLKDJ-L)
AcousticMusicScene.com is pleased to publish the monthly Top Albums and Songs charts compiled by Richard Gillmann of KBCS-FM in Bellevue/Seattle, Washington, from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. In September 2011, Pharis and Jason Romero's A Passing Glimpse, the British Columbia-based duo's debut collection of old-time music, topped the albums chart. Lucy Kaplansky's "Land of the Living," a post-9-11 New York song, received more reported folk radio airplay than any other song during the month.

Springtime may be off-season for the historic Victorian-lined seaside resort community of Cape May, New Jersey. More than 130 acts, from solo artists to full bands, will be selected to showcase at various venues over two nights during the fourth annual Singer-Songwriter Cape May music business conference set for March 25-26 in the historic Victorian-lined New Jersey seaside resort community. The deadline for singer-songwriters in all genres to submit showcase applications has been extended until Jan.28.
