2025 Canadian Folk Music Awards Nominees Named
Abigail Lapell, a Toronto-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, tops the list of nominees for the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Awards with four nominations: Contemporary Album of the Year and Solo Artist of the Year for her newest release, Anniversary, and Traditional Singer of the Year and Children’s Album of the year for her previous recording, Lullabies. Lapell previously received Canadian Folk Music Awards for English Songwriter of the Year in 2023 and 2020 and Contemporary Album of the Year in 2017.

Canadian Folk Music Awards Nominees Named
Cassie and Maggie and Stephen Fearing top the list of nominees for the 2017 Canadian Folk Music Awards with four nods each. The Nova Scotia sister duo and the Canadian folk-rock singer-songwriter are among the 75 artists and groups from nine provinces and one territory vying for awards in 19 categories to be presented at Ottawa’s Bronson Centre on Nov. 18-19.

Arts Presenters, Performing Artists Converge on New York City, Jan. 15-19
Several thousand people are expected to converge on New York City, Jan. 15-19, for the annual conference of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP). Now in its 59th year, the global performing arts marketplace and conference will feature more than 1000 artist showcases, a large EXPO Hall featuring nearly 400 exhibitors, networking opportunities galore, daily plenary sessions and keynote speakers, and a wide array of professional development workshops and forums. Plenaries and select sessions will live stream free for industry professionals, artists and the public.

2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards Presented
The 11th annual Canadian Folk Music Awards were presented in Edmonton, Alberta on Sunday evening, Nov. 8, and streamed live online via Concert Window. Winners for 2015 were named in 19 categories, while an Unsung Hero Award recipient was also honored during a bilingual gala & reception at the Citadel Theatre.
