Winners Named in 2023 Americana Honors & Awards
The 23rd annual Americana Honors & Awards were presented at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on September 20, 2023. Tyler Childers, Billy Strings, Bonnie Raitt, The War and Treaty, S.G. Goodman, and SistaStrings were named as recipients of coveted awards during an awards show that is the highlight of the annual AMERICANAFEST, a five-day celebration of American roots-inspired music put on by the Americana Music Association, September 19-23.

New Bedford Folk Festival Set for July 9-10, 2022
After a two-year hiatus, the 25th Annual New Bedford Folk Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 9-10, 2022. Among the Northeast’s most pleasant, refined and enjoyable music festivals, the family-oriented event takes over the cobblestoned streets of this historic Massachusetts port city –- much of which is part of the Whaling National Historic Park. Visitors will soak in the area’s rich maritime history as they stroll its streets while listening to world-class contemporary and traditional folk music, Americana, blues and Celtic performers under tents set up along them and in the air-conditioned comfort of the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center and the fabulous New Bedford Whaling Museum’s auditorium.

FAI Folk Radio Charts – March 2022
The Accidentals, an eclectic American power trio, had the most-played song (“Eastern Standard Time”) on folk radio in March 2022 and edged out Quebecois folk group Le Vent du Nord with the month’s top album (Time Out Session #2) and as the most-played artist. So say charts compiled by Folk Alliance International based on radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in folk-based music on the radio.

Green River Festival On The Air, July 10-12
Although the 34th Green River Festival that features music and hot air balloons has been postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, festival organizers have partnered with Northampton, Massachusetts-based radio station 93.9 The River (WRSI.com) to present Green River Festival On The Air, July 10-12, 2020.

Ron Olesko Receives NERFA’s Creator of the Year Award for Folk Music Notebook
Veteran folk DJ Ron Olesko was the recipient of the inaugural Creator of the Year Award presented by the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) during the nonprofit organization’s 25th annual conference in Stamford, CT, Nov. 7-10, 2019. Olesko, a NERFA stalwart, who has been hosting a folk show (Traditions) on WFDU-FM (Teaneck, NJ), was recognized for launching Folk Music Notebook, an online radio station showcasing folk music 24/7 earlier this year.

Some 700 performing artists, presenters, promoters, agents and managers, folk DJs, and others actively engaged in contemporary and traditional folk music are expected to converge on the Crowne Plaza in Stamford, Connecticut, Nov. 7-10, 2019 for the 25th Annual Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Conference. Philadelphia Folk Festival Set for Aug. 15-18
Thousands of music lovers are expected to converge on Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township, near bucolic Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Aug. 15-18, for the annual Philadelphia Folk Festival that will feature more than 100 artists and acts on eight stages. Now in its 58th year, the family-friendly event, produced and presented by the Philadelphia Folksong Society, is the longest continuously running outdoor music festival in North America.
