There will be lots of singing of socially relevant songs, communal meals, jamming, mentoring, socializing, and an array of workshops during the People’s Music Network’s 2016 Winter Gathering at the Hackett Middle School in Albany, NY, Jan. 29-31. Singer-Songwriter Joe Jencks, known to many as part of the folk harmony trio Brother Sun, is this year’s PMN Artist-in-Residence and will both perform and lead workshops during the event that has taken place annually in various locales since 1977.

Immigration is the theme of the annual Summer Gathering of the People's Music Network for Songs of Freedom and Struggle (PMN), an inclusive three-day weekend of music, fun and friendship. Slated for June 7-9, 2013 at the Epworth Camp and Retreat Center in High Falls, New York -- located on 160 acres of woods and meadows, situated between the Catskill and Shawagunk Mountains – the Summer Gathering will include lots of planned and spontaneous jamming and singing of socially relevant songs, along with workshops on music for social change and musical skills. Modern war and political songs are being sought for inclusion on a special compilation CD release to benefit Folk Alliance International (FAI), as well as to create a fund to provide acoustic instruments for returning soldiers who were injured in combat.
