Folk Alliance International Hosts Conference, Releases White Paper on Copyright & Royalties
Folk Alliance International (FAI) has released a white paper entitled Understanding Copyright, Royalties and Practical Applications in Folk Music. Prepared by the FAI board of directors’ advocacy committee and staff, and aimed at helping to foster understanding of this complex issue among the nonprofit organization’s membership, the paper will be presented on Friday, February 20, during the 27th Annual International Folk Alliance Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.

Finalists Named in 2013 Wildflower! Performing Songwriter Contest
Ten finalists have been named in the 2013 Wildflower! Performing Songwriter Contest. Each will perform two songs on the Singer Songwriter Stage during the 21st annual Wildflower! arts and music festival in Richardson, Texas, just a few minutes north of Dallas. Billed as North Texas’ largest music festival, it takes place, May 17-19.

Roots Music Report Folk and Roots Country Radio Charts, 06-22-12
Intersection, the new album by Grammy -winning singer-songwriter and Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award winner Nanci Griffith, climbed into the #1 position on the Roots Music Report folk radio chart this week. Fellow Texan Ray Wylie Hubbard's The Grifter's Hymnal continues to top the roots country chart.

Carolina Chocolate Drops' Leaving Eden -- a collection of original compositions, covers and traditional tunes -- returns to the #1 position on the Roots Music Report folk radio chart this week, while Texan Ray Wylie Hubbard's The Grifter's Hymnal continues to top the roots country chart.

2010 Americana Music Awards and Honors Presented
Ryan Bingham was the big winner during last night’s Ninth Annual Americana Music Association Honors and Awards Show at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The 29-year old singer-songwriter was named Artist of the Year and won Song of the Year honors for “The Weary Heart,” the theme from the film Crazy Heart.

Americana Music Association Names 2010 Awards Nominees
Dave Rawlings, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ryan Bingham and Patty Griffin scored the most nominations for the Americana Music Association’s 2010 Honors and Awards. Fellow Americana singer-songwriters Emmylou Harris and Todd Snider announced the nominees May 12 during a reception in Nashville, Tennessee. Nominees in additional categories will be announced over the next several months, while the winners will be named September 9 during the association’s ninth annual awards and honors show at the historic Ryman Auditorium.

2009 International Songwriting Competition Deadline Extended
The submissions deadline for the 2009 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has been extended to December 2. Entries must be postmarked or submitted online by that date.
More than $150,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to 65 winners in more than 20 categories, including Americana and Folk/Singer-Songwriter.
