Finalists Named in 2017 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase
Ten singer-songwriters have been selected as finalists in the 2017 Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase, held in conjunction with the 27th Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, Colorado, Aug. 18-20. The finalists will vie for cash and other prizes – including a 2018 festival main stage set and a Taylor guitar for the first-place winner.

Winners Named in 2017 Songwriter Serenade
Andrew Delaney has been named the first-place winner in the 2017 Songwriter Serenade competition. He was among 15 songwriters who were invited to showcase several of their original songs and compete for $7,000 in prize money at Moravia Performance Hall in Moravia, Texas, on Saturday, May 6.

2017 Telluride Troubadour Finalists Named
Ten singer-songwriters have been selected as finalists in the 2017 Telluride Troubadour Competition, held in conjunction with the 44th Telluride Bluegrass Festival, a roots-oriented music festival set amid Colorado’s rugged San Juan Mountains, June 15-18. They will now vie for cash and other prizes, as well as the honor of being named this year’s Telluride Troubadour.

The Philadelphia Songwriters Project Names Ten Finalists in its 2017 Songwriting Contest
Finalists have been named in the 12th annual songwriting contest produced by The Philadelphia Songwriters Project. The 10 finalists have been invited to compete in a live finals showcase on Sunday afternoon, May 21, at Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, during which a panel of celebrity judges and the audience will select four winners and two alternates. Winners will be afforded non-compensated opportunities to perform during various festivals and concert series in the region this summer.

Entries Sought in Two Songwriting Contests
Both The Philadelphia Songwriters Project and the Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA) are now accepting submissions in their respective performing songwriter contests. One does not need to be a member of either organization or to live in the areas they serve in order to enter.

33rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest Winners Announced
Winners have been named in the 33rd annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC) produced by the Songwriters’ Association of Washington. Seth Kibel, a composer and woodwind player (saxophone, clarinet and flute), was named the grand prize winner for his song “New Waltz” during a Jan. 22 awards gala at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia.

Winners Named in South Florida Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter Competition
Jane Fallon (Brookline, NH), Amber Ikeman (Bozeman, MT), and Austin MacRae (Ithaca, NY) are the winners of the 2017 South Florida Folk Festival singer-songwriter competition. The three showcased their talents, along with nine other finalists, on Jan 28 during the annual event presented by the nonprofit Broward Folk Music Club at Fort Lauderdale’s Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.
