It’s Music Festival Time in New York State
Music festivals abound in New York State in late June. Among those of note are Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival (June 20-21 in Croton-on-Hudson), Old Songs Festival (June 26-28 in Altamont), American Roots Music Festival at Caramoor (June 27 in Katonah) and Rockland-Bergen Music Festival (June 27-28 in Tappan).

South Florida Folk Festival Set for Jan. 17-18
Brother Sun, Gathering Time, Hardin Burns, Harpeth Rising, Passerine and David Roth headline the 2015 South Florida Folk Festival. Presented by the nonprofit Broward Folk Club, the festival takes place Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 17-18. More than 40 musicians will perform on two stages at Fort Lauderdale’s Hugh Taylor Birch State Park (3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., just west of A1A) over the weekend.

NERFA Hosts One-Day Mini-Conference in NJ
Showcase artists have recently been selected and workshops and panel discussions have been lined-up for the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) New Jersey Area One-Day Mini-Conference slated for Saturday, April 5. Presented in partnership with The Sanctuary Concerts and The Folk Project at the Presbyterian Church (240 Southern Boulevard, Chatham, NJ) that is home to The Sanctuary Concerts, the event, which extends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., is designed to give artists, presenters, DJs, agents and others engaged in the folk music scene a small taste of what takes place during the annual NERFA Conference each fall.

More than 800 performing artists, presenters, promoters, agents and managers, folk DJs and others actively engaged in traditional and contemporary folk music will converge on the Hudson Valley Resort in Kerhonkson, NY, Nov. 7-10, 2013, for the 19th Annual Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Conference. The eighth annual Huntington Folk Festival is slated for Saturday, July 20, 2013. The free event will extend from 12 noon into the late evening at Heckscher Park, Main Street (Route 25A) and Prime Avenue, in Huntington, New York. Americana-roots ensemble Spuyten Duyvil headlines the festival in the evening, while AcousticMusicScene.com and Acoustic Live! in New York City and Beyond host unplugged showcases and song swaps during the afternoon featuring artists from several states.
