FAR-West Hosts a Virtual Gathering on Oct. 8

Like its counterparts at the other regional affiliates of Folk Alliance International, the board of directors of Folk Alliance Region-West (FAR-West) felt compelled to cancel its annual conference this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. FAR-West will, however, host a virtual gathering on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020. Entitled “We Belong Together,” the free, one-day event will be in two parts and will take place via Zoom and YouTube. Remembering Kenny Edwards, 1946-2010

"A star has fallen; a really bright one." A memorial service is set for Sunday, Aug. 29, in Santa Barbara, California for Kenny Edwards, a driving force behind the American folk-rock movement of the 1960s and 1970s. He died on Aug. 18 at age 64. A guitarist’s guitarist, Edwards was a co-founder of the Stone Poneys and Bryndle and also collaborated with many other musical luminaries. LA Acoustic Music Festival Set for June 6-7, 2009

During the summer, the Santa Monica Pier in Southern California is teaming with people who flock there to leisurely stroll and soak up the laid-back beach atmosphere, partake of an array of dining and entertainment choices, bask in the sun and cool ocean breezes, and enjoy often fabulous sunsets.
