Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Goes Virtual
Over the span of more than 30 years, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival has drawn thousands of music lovers to Hillsdale, New York in the foothills of the Berkshires near the tri-state corner of NY, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Although the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic prompted the cancellation of this year’s festival, a virtual one will take place online in its place over the same extended weekend – Thursday, July 30 - Sunday, August 2, 2020.

Falcon Ridge ‘Most Wanted’ Artists Named
Scott Cook, Zoe Mulford and South for Winter have been invited to participate in the Most Wanted Song Swap at this summer’s Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. They were chosen in balloting by 2019 festival attendees from among 24 artists/bands who performed in last year’s Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase.

Emerging Artist Showcase Performers Chosen for 2019 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
Twenty-four artists/acts have been selected to perform in The Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase during the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival on Friday afternoon, August 2, 2019, from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Top Albums, Songs – March 2018 (FOLKDJ-L)
Whistle Down the Wind by Joan Baez and Ghost Light by John McCutcheon were the most-played albums on folk radio during March 2018. “The President Sang Amazing Grace,” written by Zoe Mulford and recorded by Joan Baez, was the month’s top song. So say charts compiled from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. McCutcheon’s Ghost Light also was the most-played album in February, while “Hole” by Tracy Grammer was that month’s most-played song.

Zoe Mulford, a transatlantic singer-songwriter, had the most-played album (Small Brown Birds) and three of the top five songs on folk radio during February 2017, while influential veteran folksinger-songwriter Tom Paxton had the most-played song (“Boat in the Water”). The month’s most-played artist was John McCutcheon, who also held that distinction and had both the most played album (Trolling For Dreams) and song on folk radio in January. SERFA Conference, a Musical ‘Family Reunion,’ Set for May 13-17 in North Carolina
Several days of contemporary and traditional folk music, networking, and learning opportunities await the nearly 200 people expected to converge on the Montreat Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Asheville, May 13-17, 2015, for the eighth annual Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) Conference. South Florida Folk Festival Set for Jan. 17-18
Brother Sun, Gathering Time, Hardin Burns, Harpeth Rising, Passerine and David Roth headline the 2015 South Florida Folk Festival. Presented by the nonprofit Broward Folk Club, the festival takes place Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 17-18. More than 40 musicians will perform on two stages at Fort Lauderdale’s Hugh Taylor Birch State Park (3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., just west of A1A) over the weekend.
