Top Albums and Songs of December 2013 (FOLKDJ-L)

Christine Lavin Presents: Just One Angel v2.0 was the most-played album on folk radio during December 2013, according to charts compiled by Richard Gillmann from radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in all folk-based music on the radio. Six tracks from the album, an eclectic collection of 20 new holiday songs by 20 U.S. singer-songwriters produced by Lavin and Andrew Ratshin, also were reportedly among the month's most-played songs. However, John McCutcheon's classic "Christmas in the Trenches" topped the songs chart.. Jack Hardy, Singer-Songwriter and Fast Folk Founder, 1947-2011

Jack Hardy, a singer-songwriter who played a pivotal role in the New York folk/songwriting scene for several decades and influenced and inspired many other songwriters, died on March 11. His death at age 63 sent shockwaves through the folk community, with many posting short remembrances and tributes on Facebook -- the social networking platform.
