Folk/Acoustic Winners Named in 2011 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest

Category winners have been named in the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, sponsored by the Songwriters Association of Washington, while overall grand, second and third prize winners will be announced during the 28th Mid-Atlantic Awards Night Gala on Jan. 15, 2012 at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia. Winners Named in 11th Annual Great American Song Contest

Canadian songwriter Carmel Mikol of Halifax, Nova Scotia captured first place in the contemporary acoustic/folk category of the 11th Annual Great American Song Contest. Winners in nine categories were recently named in the competition that drew more than 1,500 entries. The Cape Breton-born artist was recognized for “In My Bones,” the title track of her new album that is due out next week. The April 3 deadline is approaching for the 2009 Wildflower Performing Songwriter Contest that is associated with the annual Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival, May 15-17, in Richardson, Texas, just a few minutes north of Dallas... The Dallas Songwriters Association has announced the winners of its 2008 Song Contest. The grand prize winner and recipient of a Gibson guitar and other prizes is Mark Glasmire of Arlington, Texas, for “Missing You.” Glassmire also captured first place in the Americana/Folk/Bluegrass category.
