NERFA Celebrates 25 Years of Music and Community at Its Annual Conference, Nov. 7-10
Some 700 performing artists, presenters, promoters, agents and managers, folk DJs, and others actively engaged in contemporary and traditional folk music are expected to converge on the Crowne Plaza in Stamford, Connecticut, Nov. 7-10, 2019 for the 25th Annual Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Conference. AcousticMusicScene.com will again have a major presence as it hosts afternoon and late-night song swaps in addition to its popular Midnight Hoot at the close of the conference’s first day.

The Young Novelists Win 2015 Grassy Hill CT Folk Songwriting Competition
The Young Novelists took first place in the 2015 Grassy Hill CT Folk Songwriting Competition. The Toronto, Ontario (Canada)-based husband-and-wife folk-roots duo was selected by a panel of judges following short performances by the five finalists that kicked-off the 10th annual Connecticut Folk Festival and Green Expo at New Haven’s Edgerton Park on September 12.

Folk/Acoustic Winners Named in 2011 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest
Category winners have been named in the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, sponsored by the Songwriters Association of Washington, while overall grand, second and third prize winners will be announced during the 28th Mid-Atlantic Awards Night Gala on Jan. 15, 2012 at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, Virginia.

The April 3 deadline is approaching for the 2009 Wildflower Performing Songwriter Contest that is associated with the annual Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival, May 15-17, in Richardson, Texas, just a few minutes north of Dallas...
The Dallas Songwriters Association has announced the winners of its 2008 Song Contest. The grand prize winner and recipient of a Gibson guitar and other prizes is Mark Glasmire of Arlington, Texas, for “Missing You.” Glassmire also captured first place in the Americana/Folk/Bluegrass category.
