FARM, SWRFA Select Official Showcase Artists
Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) and Southwest Regional Folk Alliance (SWRFA), two regional affiliates of Folk Alliance International, have selected artists/acts to participate in juried official showcases during their respective annual conferences this fall. Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) will do so in August.

FAI Folk Radio Charts – November 2021
Chinook Waltz by Over the Moon was the most-played album on folk radio during November 2021, while the southwestern Alberta, Canada-based acoustic roots duo was the month’s most-played artist. Topping the song charts were “Ragged Queen” and “Roses in November” by singer-songwriters Mala Oreen and Tret Fure, respectively, while Over the Moon also had three of the top 10 songs. So say charts compiled by Folk Alliance International based on radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in folk-based music on the radio.

FAI Folk Radio Charts – January 2021
Distance and Time by Becky Buller, a Minnesota-based multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, was the most-played album on folk radio during January 2021. Topping the monthly songs chart was “Monumentsa' by singer-songwriter Tret Fure. Tony Rice, the late bluegrass guitar virtuoso who died on Christmas Day, was January’s most-played artist. So say charts compiled by Folk Alliance International based on radio playlists submitted to FOLKDJ-L, an electronic discussion group for DJs and others interested in folk-based music on the radio.

Bluegrass group David Davis and the Warrior River Boys had the top album (Didn’t He Ramble: Songs of Charlie Poole) and three of the ten most-played songs on folk radio during June 2018, while singer-songwriter Tret Fure had the month’s top song ("Lessons From Home Plate"). More than 200 people will converge on the Montreat Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Asheville, May 18-22, 2016 for the ninth annual Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) Conference featuring contemporary and traditional folk music, networking and learning opportunities. January is Music Festival Time in Florida
Floridians and visitors to the Sunshine State have opportunities to escape the winter doldrums and enjoy some fine music in mid-January. Both the South Florida Folk Festival and the 30A Songwriters Festival take place over the same weekend in different parts of the state.

Muses in the Vineyard Celebrates Women Artists, May 16-17
Wine pairs well with music, and wineries across the U.S. frequently feature performances by acoustic artists. For the past several years, Four Sisters Winery in Belvidere, New Jersey has played host to Muses in the Vineyard, billed as a “Celebration of Music Of the Women, By the Women and For Everyone.” Now in its fourth year, the festival, set for May 16-17, will feature sets by 18 local, regional, national and international touring artists and groups.

Nearly 200 people are expected to converge on the Montreat Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Asheville, May 14-18, 2014, for the seventh annual Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) Conference -- an extended weekend of contemporary and traditional folk music, networking, and learning opportunities. John McCutcheon is the keynote speaker. AcousticMusicScene.com will host late-night song swaps and a Midnight Hoot on the opening night.

South Florida Folk Festival Celebrates 20 Years in January 2014
The South Florida Folk Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2014. Presented by the nonprofit Broward Folk Club, the festival returns as a two-day event in a park setting on Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 18-19. More than 40 musicians will perform on two stages at Fort Lauderdale’s Hugh Taylor Birch State Park over the weekend.
