Top Albums and Songs – May 2017 (FOLKDJ-L)

Illinois-based singer-songwriter Joe Jencks had the most-played album (Poets, Philosophers, Workers and Wanderers) on folk radio during May 2017 while Willie Nelson’s “Still Not Dead” was the month’s #1 song. Jencks also was the month’s most-played artist, while Nelson was #2. Fittingly, as we celebrate his birthday, Woody at 100: The Woody Guthrie Centennial Collection (Smithsonian Folkways), a 150-page large-format book with three CDs containing 57 tracks (including 21 previously unreleased performances), topped the Roots Music Report folk radio chart this week.
